What would we be driving if Lovecars launched in 1973?

It feels like we’ve been building our community for 40+ years, but in car terms, here are a few treasures from the early 70’s to see what would have been around 40 years ago. From building tractors to building one of the most iconic supercars of all time, the Lamborghini Countach kicks us off. No further intro required. Then as we head across the pond we have the legendary Ford Mustang Convertible 351 Cleveland.

You may have preferred bombing around in a VW Beetle. An absolute classic in my eyes, although I think it needs some racing stripes and a number 53 on the side.

If you’re a Porsche fan, how about this Porsche 911 Carrera RS, which would have certainly turned heads forty years ago, as it still does now.

Now, can anybody else see the striking resemblance in this 1973 Lotus Elite and the current Ferrari FF?! Maybe the FF just edges the Elite on power and performance…

1973 is also the year in which BMW brought out their 3.0Cs, which has a top speed of 124mph and does 0-60mph in 8 seconds. Not bad for a time when breaking 100MPH was usually reserved for a racktrack.

Slightly slower off the mark than the BMW, this Mercedes 450 SLC boasts a 0-60mph of 8.80 seconds and a top speed of 134mph, but it oozes class and style, so who cares about performance.

However my overall favourite has to be the 1973 Ferrari Dino. An absolute classic and still one of the best looking cars out there.
