Not everyone can afford to own a supercar, and not enough owners use them much. We get it – lower mileage begets higher resale value. Petrolheads believe that a car has worth beyond what you pay or get in return. Here’s a list of five supercars that you can drive every day.
The straight answer – McLaren 570S
This is the first among a series of hits that McLaren has had. It has a staggering 562 hp from a twin-turbo V8, soft-close doors, a hinged rear window, panoramic sunroof, excellent visibility – it practically begs you to drive it. When you decide to take a B-road instead of the motorway, it’ll plaster a smile on your face. The car’s unintrusive traction control and all-wheel drive hurls you into corners and pulls you out by the collar.
The popular vote – Porsche 911.2 GT3
Porsches can always be found in your average business park – they are known for everyday drivability. If you can get over the massive wing, the GT3 may be the best driving package of them all. The engine is from the latest Cup car and makes 493 hp at 9000 rpm. 0-60 takes just 3.1 seconds. If you’re willing to go 4/10 of a second slower, t Porsche is adept at creating fast cars. This is their most prominent invention.
The one you covet – Lamborghini Huracan Evo
You only live once, that’s why you need to drive a Lamborghini. The Huracan Evo is a facelift with a second helping of power – a total of 631 hp and 442 lb-ft of torque. That’s no reason to buy a Lamborghini, but the appearance is. It still looks like the future. This car isn’t any faster than another supercar, but its impression on the driver and onlookers is unmatched.
The sleeper – NC1 Honda NSX
The NSX has a twin-turbo V6 which powers the rear wheels, and three electric motors. It is the cheapest hybrid sports car and just as sophisticated. 573 horsepower and a 0-60 mph time of 3.2 seconds makes it slower than a Porsche. But it is the least painful supercar you can own. It looks like a stanced Accord coupe, especially from the rear. Probably more fragile than the old NSX, but this car is the fastest car which makes you anonymous.
The high-mileage hero – Audi R8
If all you want is to drive your prized supercar every day, you need an Audi R8. It looks a bit like a TT from the front, and also like Iron Man’s mask. The V10 makes 562 bhp whilst screaming at 8,700 rpm. Quiet for a supercar at cruising speeds. Interiors are modern, comfortable, and laden with the latest tech. The combination of German engineering, reliability, mechanicals, and that fiesty V10 makes this a fun, lively supercar which knows how to put on a sober expression.
