BMW’s M brand of performance cars may be synonymous with racing, or at least the spirit of racing, but the Bavarian automaker hasn’t competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in five years. That will be changing in 2018 as BMW plans to return to the famous race.
The last time the automaker raced, it was with the M3 GT2. We doubt the automaker will return with an M3, instead likely opting for the M6 GTLM (pictured), which is currently competing in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. BMW will join Aston Martin Ferrari, Ford and Porsche in the FIA World Championship GTE series. We can’t wait.
