2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Will Have How Much Horsepower?!?
High-performance Chevrolet Camaros have been battling against hi-po Ford Mustangs since the GM muscle made its comeback in 2010. It feels like the late 1960s again as automakers battle it out with sheer horsepower and performance. When the Camaro hit the streets six years ago, it wasn’t long before we had the ZL1 performance machine.
So when the sixth-generation Camaro was announced, underpinned by a new, sportier, more compact, a ZL1 was expected. Early rumors hinted the 2017 Camaro ZL1 would make 640 horsepower, which was a significant step up from the previous generation’s 580 hp. We now know that 640-hp figure is wrong.
Thanks to the Camaro6 forum, which got its hand on the order guide for all 2017 Chevrolet Camaros, we know the 2017 ZL1 will pump 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque from its supercharged 6.2-liter LT4 V-8 engine. That is an increase of 10 each.
That is plenty of punch for what will likely be peanuts compared to other cars offering the same horsepower and torque. Pricing has yet to be announced, but rumors say the 2017 Chevy Camaro ZL1 should be in the $60,000 price range. Sign us up.
